Startups with innovative solutions that help overcome the ocean’s overexploitation, pollution, or climate change challenges are encouraged to apply for the OceanHub Africa accelerator program’s third cohort.

OceanHub Africa, based in Cape Town, has supported 16 African ocean-minded startups in various sectors of the Blue Economy, including aquaculture, fisheries, shipbuilding, marine renewables and biotechnologies, coastal tourism and ocean sports, awareness and education, data.exploration, and ocean plastic circular economy, since its inception in 2020.

The third edition of the acceleration program, which will run from mid-July until the end of February 2023, aims to support ocean-impact ventures by increasing their exposure, innovation, and financial capacities. This year’s pan-African programme will be a hybrid event.

The program will kick off in mid-July in Cape Town with an in-person bootcamp that will include training sessions on access-to-market, investor readiness in the impact space, and pitch feedback sessions.

The accelerator will host the fourth edition of Ocean Innovation Africa, an international summit committed to supporting innovation and entrepreneurship in the African ocean region, at the end of February 2023.

The startups selected for the acceleration program will have the opportunity to present their innovations, pitch their businesses, and network with potential investors, policymakers, and corporations working in the ocean innovation field during this event.

Following the completion of the programme, the selected candidates will be invited to join OceanHub Africa’s alumni program, where they will receive fundraising, business development, and networking support.Applications for the programme are open until May 22.
