Meta’s new Twitter competitor, Threads, has gained significant traction since its launch.

Within five days, the app has amassed over 100 million users, as reported by Engadget.

The integration with Instagram has played a role in its rapid adoption, with Instagram’s vast user base being able to easily sign up for Threads, except for users in the European Union where the app is not yet available.

Meta Chief Executive Officer, Mark Zuckerberg has been providing updates on Threads’ user numbers. The app reached 10 million users within the first seven hours and surpassed 30 million by Thursday morning. Within approximately 24 hours, the user count had more than doubled.

“Despite its early success, Threads currently lacks some basic features that users consider essential. For instance, it has limited accessibility options, with no ability to add alt text to images for users who rely on screen readers. The search function is restricted to usernames, hashtags are not supported, and posting to Threads from the web is not possible,
” read a statement from Engadget.

One notable absence in Threads is a chronological feed of posts, which Twitter users are accustomed to. Instead, the app utilizes an algorithmic feed populated with brands, influencers, and celebrities.

This arrangement makes it challenging for users to keep up with updates from friends and family. However, a chronological feed is planned for the future.
