#Blog4Dev Contest; World Bank Calls Out to Young Bloggers in East Africa

The #Blog4Dev Contest is an ideas-sharing platform. The platform is mainly focused for youth in Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda. It is a brainchild of the World Bank. This year, the World Bank wants you to share your thoughts on youth and agriculture.

Apparently, agriculture accounts for 32 percent of East Africa’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Sadly, those engaged in agriculture are typically elderly. The youth continue to shy away from this field despite the fact that this sector accounts for about 70 percent of employment opportunities in Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.

The #Blog4Dev Contest is in its third year running. This year they are seeking to find out how to make agriculture ‘cool’ for the youth. A growth in the agriculture sector will help reduce poverty. Are you up for the challenge?
