Buni TV Launches Extremely Hilarious Ogas at the Top TV Show for its Nigerian Audience

Ogas At The Top posterWhen I first heard the Oga at the Top jokes, they weren’t jokes at all. Then our friends at Kuluya made a popular game, and some other guys made some cool tees and I couldn’t stop laughing.

However, that was just an introduction to what hilarity means.

Today Buni Media, the same firm that has taken over Kenya’s entertainment scene with its massively popular Kenyan puppet political satire program THE XYZ SHOW, is launching a similar show in Nigeria called OGAS AT THE TOP. The video-on-demand service says it has partnered with Nigerian writers and voice talents to produce OGAS AT THE TOP, which is being shot at Buni Media’s studios in Nairobi, Kenya.

According to the show’s Executive Producers Godfrey Mwampembwa aka Gado and Marie Lora-Mungai, “Launching OGAS AT THE TOP in Nigeria is a huge, but exciting challenge for our team. The Nigerian political scene is a goldmine for stories: we certainly won’t run out of inspiration any time soon. And we know that Nigerians, just like Kenyans, have a wicked sense of humor, so this promises to be a wild ride!”

Just like its XYZ Show, Buni Media says OGAS AT THE TOP will take an unflinching and hilarious look at Nigeria’s political elite and the other ogas ruling contemporary naija society. Among the personalities who already have their puppet double are President Goodluck Jonathan and the First Lady of course, but also former rulers Olusegun Obasanjo, Sani Abacha and Ibrahim Babangida, Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, opposition figure Mohammadu Buhari, former governor of Lagos state Bola Tinubu, Minister of Petroleum Resources Diezani Allison-Madueke, comedian Basketmouth, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, and Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor aka Mama G.

The first season of the show will run for 13 episodes of about 5 minutes, and will be distributed on Buni Media’s own video-on-demand platform Buni TV here. Clips of the show will also be available on SaharaReporters.com, Afrinolly, YouTube, and MTN Play.

Now in its 9th season, Buni Media’s THE XYZ SHOW was launched in 2009 and reports fan base of over 10 million people. Last year THE XYZ SHOW won the AMVCA (Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award) for Best TV Series held in Lagos.
