Mobile West Africa 2014 Brings Tomi Ahonen in Nigeria to Help You Make Money in Mobile

mwawebIn an event that will see mobile players from around the region, Mobile West Africa 2014 has invited Tomi Ahonen, the man measured by Forbes as the world’s most influential expert in mobile to speak on the future of mobile in Africa.

Ahonen will be speaking at the Mobile West Africa 2014 conference, taking place in Lagos on 13-16 May at the Four Points by Sheraton on Victoria Island. As a climax, Ahonen will conduct a full-day workshop on Friday, 16 May titled “How to make money in mobile”.  Earlier this year, Ahonen discussed how mobile is the holy grail of eCommerce in Africa during the Mobile East Africa conference held in Nairobi.

Dr. Ernest Ndukwe, a key figure in bringing about the mobile data revolution in Nigeria, will be presenting his perspective during the keynote session.

The two will be joined by other senior industry pundits including the CEO & MD of Airtel Nigeria, the Founder of SPARK and iROKO Partners, and representatives from Nokia, DSTV Digital Media, Nigerian Breweries, PZ Cussons and Praekelt.

Organisations such as Eskimi, VConnect, Co-Creation Hub, MTech, ConnectNigeria, SureGifts, and TomTom Africa have pledged their early commitment to the conference, which is regarded as the leading technology event in West Africa, and delegate tickets are selling quickly.

Event founder Matthew Dawes commented “When we first debuted Mobile West Africa way back in February 2011 it was a different era. West Africa’s smartphone penetration was low, Nigeria’s first incubation space (CcHUB) was yet to be launched, the eCommerce boom was still years away, and mobile money was far from reality. It has been a remarkable few years and I would hope that in some way the event has contributed to that growth.

I want MWA2014 to be a joyride – celebrating past successes, critically analysing the industry’s future direction and opportunities, and to again be the conference to come and do business at. Having the likes of Tomi Ahonen and Dr. Ndukwe confirmed signifies our intent to further cement the event’s position as the best in the region.”
