PesaPal, an online payment platform for businesses in Africa is set to launch a new card processing system to streamlime online payments for merchants and help them curb fraud.
Speaking to TechMoran, PesaPal Founder and CEO Agosto Liko said, “We are introducing a new card processing system which will not only eliminate the current tedious verification processes which requires the consumer to send in their details abut will also help us optimize fraud management operations.
Liko added that the firm is working with CyberSource on online payments, fraud management, and payment security saying earlier, clients had to cue in their details and the process was cumbersome and time wasting. He said the new system will also help curb online fraud and will encourage more merchants to sign up and increase their sales.
Founded in 2010 Kenya in PesaPal allows individuals and businesses to make and accept payments in Africa on the Internet safely and securely. The platform has an escrow feature that allows them to verify the quality of goods and services before releasing payments hence protecting them. Users can pay for their utility blls, school fees, tickets and as well shop online and get printable receipts and get access to 24 hour support.
In Kenya, PesaPal allows user to top up their Orange, Airtel,Yu and Safaricom airtime and internet bundles by easily logging on the site then choose their preferd payment method such as M-PESA, Airtel Money, YuCash or credit cards. The platform works simply.
To use M-PESA to load an Orange number one will be required to go to their M-pesa menu. Select Pay Bill. Then enter Business No. 220220, enter their account no. ORNGXXXXXX (Where XXXXXX is your Orange Mobile number). Enter the Amount and then enter their secret M-Pesa PIN then press OK.
On Airtel Money, Go to the Airtel Money Menu. Select Make payments. Select Pay Bill then Other. Under business name enter pesapal then enter the amount of airtime to purchase, enter your secret Airtel Money PIN and then under reference enter ORNGXXXXXX (Where XXXXXX is your Orange Mobile number) and then press OK.
Apart from buying airtime, you can use PesaPal to pay your kid’s school fees, buy event tickets, shop and as well book for a hotel or flight. PesaPal aims to make bill payments convenient by taking away all queues and technicalties and it’s PesaPal Direct post ensures that your payments reflect on the biller’s system immediately. Users can set up email or SMS notifications everytime their bills are due to be paid to ensure disconnection of services such as Dstv, GOtv, Zuku or Kenya Power Tokens.
Users in the diaspora can also pay bills for their families directly instead of sending money home.
