Every time I leave my house without my earphones, I always feel sick. A day can never be same without music or listening to funny jokes on radio. Apple’s flagship device – iPhone7 has made life a little boring or complicated for the middle-class. If you buy a new iPhone 7 or 7 plus, you will be given a Lightning-based headphones since the released devices don’t come with the headphone jack. This simply means that, the lightning thing should never get lost or spoil because getting a spare will cost you a lot of money.
“Killing the headphone jack can be broken down into three; Apple is trying to set another trend which China will definitely pick, the company wants to screw the youth or maybe…just maybe they were not able to completely build a water resistant device with many jack pins the way Samsung did with their Galaxy S7.” William Wafula, a Kenyan lawyer said.
Over the years Apple has been doing things their own way and this does not always favor many people, mostly Africans. For example, the company killed the CD drive in the Macbook Air and complicated the charging system inclusive of the charger. Now, if you buy the gadgets you will need to take good care of the charger and other equipment because when you lose it, be ready to cough more than 3k.
Apple’s marketing chief Phil Schiller explained why the iPhone 7 would not have a standard 3.5mm aux cable input, “It comes down to one word…courage. The courage to move on and do something better for all of us.” He said.
However, guys on Twitter did not take this lightly. People were of the opinion that the marketing strategy used by the company cannot be termed as courageous since they have ruined the art of earphones.
The young
Young people like listening to music via a headphone or earphone because they are tangible. According to WHO, 50% of teenagers and young adults between the ages of 12 and 35 spend most of their time listening to music through the earphones that is equivalent to 1.1billion people.
That implies that iPhone will lose more than a billion of the young generation since I don’t think listening to music will sound better over a Lightning cable, let alone over Bluetooth, or the proprietary wireless technology Apple is using in its AirPods.
Other features
iPhone 7 also comes with a 4.7-inch Retina HD IPS display with 1,134 x 750 resolutions at 326 ppi. The larger iPhone 7 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch Retina HD IPS screen with 1,920 x 1,080 resolution at 401 ppi.
Apple revamped their cameras with iSight camera’s resolution from 8 megapixels to 12 megapixels last year on the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.
