Zimbabwe Telecel is giving its clients 100 percent bonus on purchase of any airtime denomination and even giving free SMS’ messages at a purchase of airtime worth just $2 effective today Friday November 2.
The promotion dubbed the Mega Magic Promotion is effective to Telecel customers after using the one dollar Mega Juice card.
According to the firm in a release statement,”The bonus airtime is available for Telecel to Telecel calls once the main airtime balance has been used up. ”
Telecel says the bonus airtime is valid for making calls between 7 and 20 days, while the number SMSs given varies according to value of airtime purchased, as US $2.00 card earns 6 SMSs while one with US$ 20 airtime card gets 60 SMSs.
According to Octivius Kahiya Telecel Zimbabwe Marketing Director the promotion seeks to encourage use of the popular $1.00 Mega Juice card, who asked why the Mega Juice bonus airtime could not be available on higher denomination cards.
“The Mega Magic Promotion answers this, by providing bonus airtime equivalent to the value of the card. That means, for instance, that a person using the $20 scratch card receives, in addition to $20.00 worth of cross net airtime, $20.00 worth of bonus on net airtime, which can be used to call other Telecel subscribers when the $20.00 cross net airtime is used up,” Kahiya said.
He added, “On top of that the $20.00 card includes 60 free SMSs that can be used to send text messages to other Telecel subscribers.”
Telecel in Mid September launched a similar promotion dubbed the Mega Promo promotion where those who opt in and participate had chances to win a Mazda BT50 double car, HP 630 laptops, Samsung Galaxy Y PRO cellphones and Samsung Galaxy S2 cellphones.
Trumbelt Computers, a Zimbabwean VAS firm has taken the telco over a partnership it says made with the telco to launch the promotion to lure subscribers. Trumbelt now claims to be paid US$ 340,000 citing copyright infringement by the firm after it failed to honour the agreement.
Telecel however denies such a partnership.
