Google is reportedly suing a 23 year old SA entrepreneur for running a domain name similar to theirs.

, Google wants to sue Andries Maree, 23, owner of Doogle.co.za, a website he runs for job seeekers.The man, who himself has suffered the wrath of unemployment told the paper that he began the site after meeting several of other unemployed youth.
The paper reports that Maree, a Grade 8 graduate also lost his job two years ago and began selling newspapers for Beeld.The man who claims he taught himself programming was moved to create a database for the unemployed free of charge.News24 report that on October 23, Google’s lawyers send him a warning letter: Stating that the similar-sounding name could lead people to believe there was a collaboration agreement between the two companies.”
The report says; ‘Maree has denied the accusations and said he would be happy to place a notice on his website, dissociating himself from Google. According to the report Maree’s lawyer, Emmie de Kock, did not agree with Google, and were deciding how to proceed.Google’s motto-do not be evil seem to have changed. Questions are also arising on why such a large internet giant would fear such a move by a young 23 year old without a strong backbone and corporate backing.
