Nic Haralambous needs no introduction on the web.Nicholas Haralambous former CEO and co-founder of Motribe which was in August acquired by Africa’s largest social network Mixt, and a former journalist today launched his passion project,NicSocks.
He said, ‘Today marks the launch of my passion project. NicSocks is a company that I have set up out of a passion that I have firstly for mens fashion and secondly for socks in particular. I’ve been wearing crazy ,mis-matched and loud socks for a few years and after many pairs and much money spent I decided that it was time to go it alone.”
Nic says,’ Having recently sold my company I found that I had some time and a little bit of money to start off my sock project. Over and above everything else with this project and these socks, I’ve had a truck-load of fun. This quick startup has reminded me that business can and should be fun.”
According to Nic, the startup took him over 6 weeks to be off the ground. From registration, design, socks, sourcing for manufacturer and building the eCommerce portal.
Nic isn’t launching this just as a business. It is his passion.
He says, “I have told a few people about my idea to start a sock company. The reactions have ranged from laughs and chuckles to denial and disbelief. A lot of the people look at me as if I’ve just crawled out of a piece of cheese. Maybe I have. But I love socks.”
To him socks are a source of inspiration and they should be to all men.
