A new portal dubbed ReportingKenya.net, has been launched and promises an in-depth coverage of the March 4 general elections and will also report on local and international justice issues.
The portal is an initiative of The Institute for War and Peace Reporting and the Wayamo Communication Foundation, a journalism training NGO. ReportingKenya.net will be used by Kenyan journalists covering politics and transitional justice.
As the March 4 general elections approach, the organisations see the need for partial reporting. This is also the case for both local and international justice issues during and after the election.
The portal will be a hub for reporters from several media houses in Kenya including reporters from Nation Media Group, The Standard Group, Radio Africa Group and The People; and broadcasters including KBC, Royal Media Services, Capital FM, Kass FM, , Pamoja FM, Koch FM, Radio Amani, Radio Nam Lolwe, Baraka FM.
The media houses can also use reports posted on the site.
ReportingKenya.net is part of a two-year media development project with support from the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the German Federal Foreign Office and several international bodies. The site will also have news on the ongoing ICC trials at the Hague.
