In a move that will benefit Dimension Data’s clients in Africa and Europe wanting to move to mobility, Dimension Data, the USD 5.8 billion global ICT solutions and services provider Wednesday signed a global partnership with AirWatch to fill in the growing need for solutions to manage corporate and employee-owned mobile devices, protect corporate data, distribute enterprise applications, and secure mobile access to corporate documents.
AirWatch, the largest mobile device management systems (MDM) provider, and leader in mobile security globally and, with 5,000 customers and nearly 1,000 global associates, is more than twice the size of any other MDM company and manges over 20,000 devices including for the top four global Fortune companies, nine of the top 10 U.S. retailers, six of the top 10 global airlines, the top four global energy companies, six of the top 10 global pharmaceutical companies, seven of the top 10 global CPG companies, three of the top five U.S. medical device companies, five of the top 10 global luxury goods companies and two of the top three global hotel groups.
According to Matthew Gyde, Dimension Data’s Group General Manager for Security Solutions, security remains one of the most critical considerations and, if not effectively managed, creates the biggest area of corporate risk.
Gyde said, “Given the multi-geography nature of Dimension Data and our clients, we needed a partner with a powerful technology platform that we could work with across all regions.
Gyde added that AirWatch’s advanced API framework that allows for close integration with Dimension Data’s telecom expense management offering, Xigo Enterprise sets it apart and means Dimension Data will deliver better value to its clients.
Dimension Data also has strong points.
According to John Marshall, president and CEO AirWarch, Dimension Data plays a significant role as a provider of security services to the market.
Marshall said, “This, combined with their focus on providing clients with end-to-end mobility services around the world, makes the partnership a natural fit. Our ability to jointly address the needs of our respective clients represents a major opportunity for us.”
Dimension Data’s role in enterprise mobility capabilities and partnership gives it opportunity to participate in AirWatch Connect 2013, the leading user conference for enterprise mobility at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain from 25 – 28 February 2013.
