Microsoft Corp. has announced that its email service, Outlook.com has signed up 60 million users six months after it was launched in preview.
According to Microsoft, ” Outlook.com was designed as an email service focused on removing barriers and simply getting people going.”
The firm adds that Outlook.com has a beautiful, fresh and intuitive experience on modern browsers and devices, keeps people connected with their friends and co-workers across their social networks, has a smart and powerful inbox to handle email needs including SkyDrive for sharing virtually anything in a single email and is great on privacy.
Starting today, Microsoft will upgrade every Hotmail user to Outlook.com.
Hotmail users need not worry about email address, password, contacts as everything will remain the same but over a redesigned fresh and intuitive user interface, lots of new features, and better performance.
Gmail has over 420 million users and compared to Outlook’s 60 million they are not a threat but Microsoft says 20 million of its new users ditched Google’s Gmail for Outlook.com. The fight at Gmail has just began.
