
A team of internet entrepreneurs in Ethiopian are making sure their counterparts in the Diaspora have up to date news via a video sharing site whose popularity is growing in the country by the day.
The site’s founders said, “Dire Tube has particularly proven its value when it comes to keeping the worldwide Ethiopian Diaspora connected to their home country. In many parts of the world Ethiopians do not have direct access to Ethiopian news and entertainment, therefore, Dire Tube becomes their primary source for these”
According to Alexa, a web traffic statistics company, “Diretube.com is the largest Ethiopian video sharing site with thousands of videos running online attracting over 100,000 visitors per day with each visitor viewing over 3.0 unique pages daily on average.
The site is highly visited by US residents at over 43 percent and just 9.09 percent from Ethiopia and over 8 percent from Canada. The site which ranks #19 in the country is frequently visited by 25 to 34 year olds.
