Umuntu Media’s Mimiboard Celebrates One Year Anniversarry | Hits 27 Million Page Views Per Month

mimiboardsMimiboard, a virtual notice boards built by  SA’s UmuntuMedia, a firm founded by Johan Nel have today announced a 27 million page views milestone.

Speaking to TechMoran, Nel said,” This expansion has been enabled by partnerships with other major brands like Capital FM in Kenya and Lagbook in Nigeria. Mimiboard is expanding at alarming rate with the brightest minds being outsourced across the continent and working to fully integrate Mimiboard with its all iportals, bettering the UX and making it responsive for mobile users.”

The South Africa firm also reported that the one year old noticeboards are recording 450k visits per day.

Mimiboards launched at MWEA2012 in Nairobi enable local content creation and unlocking access to this content across Africa. They allow communities to easily create and share local content.

Umuntu media iPortals, inforamtion portals which carry the Mimiboard too are currently available in 16 African countries with the biggest source of traffic including Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Malawi, Uganda and South Africa.

According to Nel, the technology is not only being used by locals but they work closely with great media owners across the continent majority of them are based in Nigeria and Ghana.

Mimiboard recently partnered with Nyasa Times from Malawi, Gambia Dispatch from Gambia, and New Business from Ethiopia and QFM from Zambia.

The founder said that, ‘ Seeing the vision come to life is one of the most rewarding experience.’

“Our continent is alive with opportunities and our technology is making great impact and with the current growth, Umuntu Media will be positioned as a catalyst of on the continent. We urge our growing user base for more good things to come,” he added.

Johan raised $1 million from eVentures Africa and the fruits are already being ripped and he’s seeking to raise another round to expand to Europe and USA before competition sets in. UmuntuMedia already has a wordpress plug-in that bloggers can embed Mimiboard onto their sites .The revenue generated is shared between UmuntuMedia and the blogger and to him that is another chance bloggers  in Africa can add something on top of their revenue streams.

This is not the end, Mimiboards want to be the next big thing in Africa and eventually across the globe.
