According to Evelyn Namara, Country Director Solar Sister, “We live in a world with lots of challenges, we see them everyday, we curse them everyday, but we do little to bring about change that we want – that is why we believe that the next generation of real entrepreneurs will come from people who have a passion of community and want to tackle the most pressing challenges of their community through building social ventures.”
The initiative is open to founders with social ventures, those with ideas for social businesses and those wondering what to do at the moment. Joachim called on founders wherever they are to “bring their ideas to the Unreasonable startup event and people will be there to help shape your ideas.
He said,”So everyone who heads a social venture, or has a business idea that they believe can solve some of the toughest challenges we face.. like in health, agriculture, energy, transport, anything,” and adds, ‘Come Be Unreasonable.”
The Unreasonable Institute gets 10 to 20 world-changing entrepreneurs live under the same roof for six weeks in Boulder, Colorado and gives them training from ’50 world-class mentors, ranging from a Time Magazine Hero of the Planet, to the head of user experience at Google X, to an entrepreneur who’s enabled over 20 million farmers to move out of poverty’ in a move to scale their businesses.
The entrepreneurs also form relationships with 25 investment funds, get legal advice and user design consulting, and pitches to hundreds of potential investors at the end of the Institute.
The Unreasonable Institute accelerates these ventures so they can scale to meet the needs of over one million people each.
