Facebook is reportedly running a small test of a new notification that reminds users to post something to their profiles if they haven’t been active in a while, fast company reported earlier on.

The report comes after venture capitalist Bijan tweeted out the alert he received on his phone. The response from the followers was not positive.

Facebook has been adding features slowly by slowly. Most of the features are from Hackathons that are normally undertaken by the engineers in the company. Of late after the changing of the newsfeed design and timeline, Facebook as added ability to send images through message in the mobile version.

Facebook growth is limited to retention of the billion users and acquiring more of them and mobile is powerful. The introduction of reminders will be effective in retaining active members and increasing their activity rate .
