Ghana’s daily deals site Tisu runs deals on restaurants, spas, health and beauty, travel, sports, entertainment and electronics and also features business and is working on being the biggest deals site in the region.
Tisu is Akan for “Teso” meaning discounts and was launched in November 2011.
The deals site uses group buying and negotiates large discounts from local businesses for buyers to get goods and services at low prices.
According to the team, “Deals are usually up on the site for a few days and are activated only when a minimum number of people agree to buy.”
Users need to create an account to log in. Then browse through selected deals on travel, food, shopping, spas and events. Users can also subscribe for weekly deals to up to 90% off the regular price. After selecting the discounted item or trip, one prints the coupons to the promoting firm then pays for it.
To buy or pay for deals on site, one simply clicks ‘Buy’ on the site then selects among the available payment options such as MTN Mobile Money, iWallet, bank transfer, or deposit the cash intoGT Bank or Stanbic Bank.
Just like Kenya’s Rupu, Tisu is backed by Ringier International, Ghana.
