Blackberry will be shutting its BBM Music service, as it asks user to turn to Rdio with a free 30-day trial.
BBM might not have been the best with its restricted platform limiting users ability to download music tracks to the number of referals a subscriber had made to it.
With a monthly $4.99 a user would download 50 music tracks per month and if they invited a friend BBM service would give them access to their friends tracks plus fifty more per friend per month and it wasn’t bad until the number of friends to invite was also restricted.
On June 2, BBM service shuts to pave way for Rdio, which gives subscribers unlimited, on-demand access to over 18 million music tracks.
Rdio launched in August 2010 and is headquartered in San Francisco and was founded by Janus Friis, one of the creators of VoIP service Skype. Rdio recently launched an online and mobile video service dubbed Vdio.
