Samsung is reportedly working with Mozilla on a new mobile web browser called Servo to run on Android smartphones and written in Rust, a new systems language from Mozilla.
Build from ground up, Servo addresses security issues while utilizing modern hardware for better performance.
The two firms have also developed together the Rust programming language to version 6 which they believe will cause high level efficiency, will cut multi-paradigm abstractions and will also offer precise control over hardware resources and is “safe by default”,.
The firms claim Rust is a secure and stronger langauage against crashes as it is able to prevent entire classes of memory management errors. It also has lightweight concurrency primitives and easy for programmers to use.
Though not out soon, Mozilla said that it was making a first major revision of Rust by cleaning it up, expanding and documenting its libraries, improving user experience and beefing up its performance.
