Nigeria’s Minister of Communication Technology, Mrs Omobola Johnson today launched a government services portal in a move that will the public access government services online with ease.
The launch of the Government Service Portal is in line with the ‘getting government online’ and will manifest in a faster, cheaper and more personalized and efficient service delivery for citizens and businesses 24 hours a day, seven days a week said the minister.
Accessible to both citizens and foreigners interested in information on Nigeria, the portal has English, French and Spanish translations.
Mrs Johnson said: “The objectives of the Government services portal include creation of a single point of entry to government information and services, enhancing transparency and accountability, improving quality and delivery of public services via ICT, enabling civic engagement and transforming public administration.”
The portal has a directory of existing government services already online such as Trademark and Patent registration, Registration and Accreditation of Seed companies, Seed Import and Export Permit, Evaluation and Accreditation of Certificates, School Inspection Reports, Acquisition of License for Class type license, individual type license and Spectrum License and Farmer’s Registration.
The ministry has been working with Ministries of Agriculture, Education, Health, Industry, Trade & Investment among others to automate their processes.
