Launch48 brings entrepreneurs of all skill sets and experiences together to create ideas, build products and launch their own start-ups in 48 hours.
Coming for the first time in Cape Town, May 17-19 Launch48 Weekend will introduce attendees to the business model canvas and lean start-up methodologies and ensure that attendees walk home with a business after just 48 hours.
At just R400 per ticket (less for students) at the Bandwidth Barn, Woodstock Exchange, Cape Town, Launch48 is open to those with start-up ideas, those who want to be co-founders, those with skills to run a start-up and even to dreamers with the next big idea but no team and no idea of how to get it moving.
Founded in 2009 by Ian Broom and Adil Mohammed who wanted to find out what it took to build a successful web app and to experience fun and excitement whilst they were doing it, Launch48 has helped over 50 startups with alumni going on to accelerators such as 500 Startups, Seedcamp, Springboard, and Oxygen Accelerator. Since then they have contnued to be catalysts for new entrepreneurs through Launch48 Weekend, Launch48 Launchpad, and Launch48 Online.
May 17-19 in Cape Town Launch48 will give 7 meals and free soft drinks throughout the event, free beer, wine and soft drinks on the Friday evening and free beer, wine, soft drinks on Sunday evening. There will also be free access to mentors consisting of South Africa’s top entrepreneurs and investors and a Launch48 goodie bag worth over $4,500. To attend you have to get a ticket.
Friday May 17 attendees pitch their ideas, create teams then Saturday May 18 learn what it takes to launch an online start-up. Then on Sunday May 18, judges give prizes to the best businesses while all attendees walk home with software and tools worth over £3,500 ($4,500) to help them build their businesses.
