Kenya’s top entertainment web news publishing startup Ghafla Kenya has launched Ghafla! Deals, a daily deals and event ticketing discount shop in a move that is set to see events sell off to capacity and reduce event fraud and confusion and make it convenient for revelers to attend events and concerts.
According to Ghafla, “Ghafla!Deals was born out of a need for Ghafla! to provide a solution to promote all the small and medium sized enterprises who would ask us to work with them.”
“We also wanted to provide extra value to our users outside of news, and this was the best way for us to do that,” the firm added.
The firm said Ghafla!Deals will feature one daily deal on the best goods and services in Kenya’s entertainment industry to encourage Kenyans enjoy great products and services. Buyers will buy directly from the site using VISA, M-Pesa and PesaPal payment options.
“A great price is only half the battle – it’s also got to be a great product or service. Between our top-rated business partners and unbeatable prices, you should feel comfortable venturing out and trying something new – just because it’s featured on Ghafla!Deals. We want Ghafla!Deals to be an addiction you can feel good about,” the team announced.
Earlier, the start-up company had said Ghafla!Deals was in its last stages and being tested for resilience, the service which had not been identified at the time would serve party goers, movie fanatics and event promoters.
Ghafla began as a music lyrics site in 2009 and metamorphosed into an entertainment news platform. The firm earlier this year reported massive traffic due to its fresh entertainment news and gossip, hitting over 500,000 visitors and two million page views this year January.
Samuel Majani aka Mr. Majani Ghafla founder and CEO told TechMoran that people don’t just want to read news and sit their, most of them would want some action or service related to the news.
The deals section of the portal comes in what Majani said was dwindling advertising revenue and a move to diversify its revenue streams.
According to the founder Sam Majani, “Web advertising is cheaper, unassailable because web companies have better cost structures than traditional media. Web advertising is much more measureable than traditional advertisers are slowly opening up to online advertising opportunities.”
