Speaking during the Launch Company Chief Executive Officer Mr. Henry Njoroge said “Cloud computing provides computation, software, data access, and storage services that do not require end-user knowledge of the physical location and configuration of the system that delivers the services. Parallel to this concept can be drawn with the electricity grid, wherein end-users consume power without needing to understand the component devices or infrastructure required to provide the service”.

Xtranet believes in the potential impact that Cloud computing has on business is, so great that enterprises are now looking to the Cloud as a means for their IT infrastructure team to get their applications up and running faster, and to decrease their spending budgets by up to 60%.

Xtranet’s Cloud computing platform integrates offsite Server Hosting, Backup and Disaster recovery in one easy to use package.

The company has partnered with Pamoja, the Cloud services business unit of Pan-African ICT enabler SEACOM, to expand the reach of its platform.

As SEACOM’s strategic arm leading entry into content aggregation and associated Cloud computing services, Pamoja is leveraging off its parent company to build an SME Cloud services marketplace and take its white-labelled Cloud services to the market through an exclusive channel of resellers.

Currently Pamoja has channel partners in South Africa and Kenya. The region is considered strategic and this alliance will improve the rollout of Xtranet to a growing marketplace.

Says Albie Bester, General Manager at Pamoja Cloud Services, “Our channel partners continue to experience a surge in interest in Cloud services in the African market. The drivers range from organisations responding to the global interest around Cloud computing to organisations who look at driving business value from IT but cannot afford to deploy and operate all the business systems they require. We are excited about the industry leading partnership we have forged with Xtranet”

Says Njoroge; “We have packaged a product that has a wide range of hosting solutions both directly and through our hosting partner for clients who need the highest levels of availability and backup. We combine this with redundant data links and the needed technical services for staging, racking, remote management and physical access at the data centers.”

He adds that in addition to Cloud services, there is also data center server racks available at Xtranet’s head office, “Our Data Center provides physical space for use by customers with hardware equipment and provides communication and application services to end-users.”

During the launch attended by major customers at a Nairobi hotel CEO Henry Njoroge further noted that the Product Scope is not limited to providing physical space; Server room floor/rack space, Sufficient Dual Input Power, Elaborate Security system and Sufficient Air Conditioning.

“We also offer Backup and replication, Website Hosting and mail hosting services”.

In conclusion Mr. Njoroge affirmed that Cloud computing is the next frontier in business process automation and predicts that in the next five years, Cloud solutions will be as commonplace as the Internet is today. As such all organisations big or small are encouraged to adopt Cloud solutions in order to achieve cost reduction and enjoy enterprise class applications and facilities at a fraction of the cost of owning the same outright.
