Formed Dec 2011 Compute Continuum Ltd (CCL), a firm owned by Omar Bajaber, a former Intel Country Manager Kenya has launched a one stop electronic superstore dubbed Bjs.co.ke expected to make shopping for electronics in Kenya affordable and convenient.
Bj’s coined from Bajaber name retails laptops, desktop computers and accessories, tablets, E-Readers, smartphones, gaming equipment, printers, scanners, projectors, digital cameras, plasma TV’s , DVD’s, Home Theaters and Entertainment, Audio /Visual, Music Systems, Speakers among others.
Bj’s sells their stuff both online and physically from their Adams Acarde showroom.
According to Bajaber,” We want to make electronic shopping simple. We have partnered with several manufacturers and suppliers to bring quality and genuine brands to our clients.”
“Most electronic shops have one product or two, therefore buyers have no choice but to buy what is stocked. We are changing that, clients can come choose whatever brand they want from smartphones, home theaters, TV’s, fridges and microwaves.”
Though now with just one showroom in the country, Bajaber told TechMoran that the company has plans to take their electronic superstores countrywide, beginning with several superstores in the city.
“Kenyans want to buy electronics, but they don’t want to just buy anything. We are bringing in original appliances from manufactures to ensure they buy genuine products and at discounted prices.,” he said.
Set on two floors, with several attendants to each client needs,the store also has partnered with Chase Bank so as clients can access credit services as a snap. Buyers can also pay by M-Pesa, PayPal, MasterCard and Visa.
Phiroze Shaikh, BJ’s Showroom Manager said the store is running a promo which ends June 1 to educate users on several brands of electronics available in the store. Lovers of gaming have a rig being set up and will be ready in a few hours, Bajaber told TechMoran that the company has orderd the X-Box One and some other gaming consoles from Nintendo’s to Playstation. Kids have bouncing castles to play the day down and their is Java downstairs.
BJ’s strategy is to change the retailing experience to be customer centric, offering choice, service and quality goods to their clientele and take the experience to the entire continent.
According to Newton Waithaka, Bulb Interactive,a social media firm for CCL , Bj’s aims to run the largest Electronic Superstore in East Africa. The total amount of selling space is expected to exceed over 8000 sq.ft.

That was me with the GM on why he decided to launch the Bj Store and how different it is from others. Buyers will be able to buy on credit-faster and have their electronics/ appliances delivered and fixed at home by the store’s technicians for free.
