World social network giant Facebook with over one billion users has launched verified Pages to help people find authentic accounts of celebrities and other high-profile people and businesses on Facebook.
Facebook said, ” We verify profiles or Pages to help you be sure that they are who they claim to be. Keep in mind that not all authentic profiles and Pages are verified and that you can’t request to have your profile or Page verified. You can report fake accounts
that are impersonating you, your business or your brand.”
The Verified Pages have a small, blue check mark beside their name on timelines, in search results, and elsewhere on Facebook as is with Twitter verified accounts.
According to Facebook, “the Verified Pages belong to a small group of prominent public figures (celebrities, journalists, government officials, popular brands and businesses) with large audiences.”
Facebook will also verify profiles as well to avoid users being impersonated especially for well-known public figures and business pages for celebrities, journalists, government officials, popular brands and businesses.
The verified Facebook identity puts a blue badge next to users names.
