Africa’s gaming company Kuluya Games has unveiled a new game BEADS
, to tell Africa’s cultural experiences and norms.
To play beads one is required to match a minimum of three (3) Beads on the board: Horizontally/Vertically or Diagonally or Closely joined. Players use their power ups to arrange beads of same colour, add extra time with Jara, use Gbosa to splash colours on same beads and blow up other beads with Banga!”
The game is at the moment available on Kuluya
‘s skilled-gaming platform and will be moving to mobile devices if it gathers enough interest.
Lakunle Ogungbamila, head of Kuluya told TechMoran that BEADS, like all other Kuluya’s games are Afrocentric and revolve around the African cultural experience and norms.
“We got thinking of a match 3 game to produce, and it seem everything multiple as been taken. Multiple things like Diamond, jewel, candies, even pebble, but beads almost seem left out and so it was selected. Then came the part of developing a story behind the game dynamics, said Ogungbamila.
” The Benin kingdom in present Edo state, Nigeria is a culture that places value on beds and hey, what a great way to go, thus we developed story around the Benin kingdom and Princess “Odion”: A princess who mixed all her beads on her mat and is required to wear them to attend a festival organized by the Oba.
The princess therefore sorts the help of players to help match her beads in the right colour/design against time.
