According to Brian McClendon, Vice President, Geo at Google Waze will help users outsmart traffic with its fast-growing community of traffic-obsessed users.
He added that the Waze product development team will remain in Israel and operate separately by enhancing Google Maps with some of the traffic update features provided by Waze and enhancing Waze with Google’s search capabilities.
Google will also work closely with the vibrant Waze community, who it says are the DNA of the app and to ensure they have what’s needed to grow and prosper.
Available for Android and iOS, Waze is the world’s fastest-growing community-based traffic and navigation app which helps drivers in an area share real-time traffic and road info, saving everyone time and gas money on their daily commute.
Like a personal heads-up from over 30 million friends on the road, Waze helps users get alerted before they approach police, accidents, road hazards or traffic jams, all shared by other drivers in real time.
Waze also has map editors works to constantly improve and update Waze’s maps to reflect changes happening in neighborhoods and it also conects with other friends on Facebook to coordinate everyone’s arrival times when one picks up or meets up a friend. It also helps users navigate to the cheapest station on their route as members share gas prices.
Google maps just got a great partner in tech and user stats too!
