Mediquip as its name wants to equip its users with medical equipment and also does consultancies in Bioinformatics, Environmental Impact Assessment and audit, Biogas technology, Waste water treatment and management and Training in Biomedical and environmental health sciences.
The founder, Martin Ogwang, a former Registry Administrator at Moi University, School of med, department of Pediatrics (child health) and now a PhD. candidate for Computational biology & Bioinformatics at Indiana University told TechMoran,” I started it to create employment for myself and others. I buy reagents, equipments from manufacturers and supply to end users.”
Apart from supply of medical equipment and consultancy services, hands on training he expects Mediquip to be a world class provider of biomedical equipment and environmental and health consultancy services.
Medquip Agencies Limited requires users to create an account with the store to be able to make orders and move through the checkout process. Having an account also allows users to view and track their orders as they are shipped.
Ogwang says he is aiming at signing up clients from the health sector, institutions of higher learning and research centers as both hardware clients and for consultancy services.
At the moment he says he has raised loans from several banks using the companies local purchase orders (LPO). He is signing up research, training and consultancy deals with his team of professionals. Though he is now in the US, he is always watching what is happening in the health sector and believes with his skills and experience and use of technology, he will help change the Kenyan health sector.
