Millicom, Tigo Telecommunications Company parent firm has announced plans to invest $80 million in Tigo Rwanda.
Hans Holger Albrecht, President and CEO of Millicom speaking after meeting Rwandan President Paul Kagame said Rwanda’s business environment was great and that the firm would make more investments in the country.
The amount will be injected into the company in the next five years to fuel its expansion and capacity.
The Tigo brand was started in 2004 by Millicom in Latin America and was later spread to Africa. The firm later launched value-added services beyond communication, new sub-brands such as Tigo Cash and Tigo Care. Tigo brand is valued at US $2.7 billion.
