Fixe Ads online auction portal Leiloes.net has now merged into market places Coisas. This comes after gaining the online classified company Fix Ads last year in September and the combination of Olx with Fixe Ads platform Coisas.
Coisas.com no longer operates as a simple free classified market place but it offers users the feature to auction items as they used to on Leiles.net.
The Fixe Ads management defended the merger as reorganization of Fixe Ads and also the current situation of e-commerce business in Portugal, which defines that buyers now prefer instant purchase of products rather than waiting for an auction ending.
Users can sell their items either by a fixed price listing, through auction bidding with a starting price or through an immediate sale price. However, the latter method which widely used in the US, the auction, is not active in Portugal.
Miguel Mascarenhas, CEO business portal “Dinheiro Vivo” said that when they launched their auction platform in 2007, approximately 50 percent of their users bought items by bidding on them and only few used the “buy now” option. About 80 percent choose to buy instantly.
The Fix Ads founder, whom operated for Nasper, appointed as extra intention for the change of the economic crisis in the country, believed that the buying trend in the world has changed.
He said that in the 90s people had money to buy new things, but nowadays people in Portugal are according to him now looking at used goods as an additional income source.
In order to differentiate Olx form Coisas the platform now has a subdivision named “classificados” (classifieds) which redirects users to the OLX Portugal domain.
