zantel doctorTanzania’s Zantel  has today partnered with BR Solutions & Ministry of Health and Social Welfare to launch a mobile health service, Phone Doctor to enable healthcare delivery via mobile platforms.

Zantel subscribers can use Phone Doctor to connect with doctors via phone for non-emergency medical attention from the comfort of their homes. The Zantel subscribers simply call in to medical associates who then relay to doctors what the patients need.

The service offers a simple, cost effective and reliable solution to take care of day to day medical consultations of non-emergency dieses and in case of emergencies it will guide on the basic life saving tips, Dos and Don’ts and advises to save the life of the patients

The service is aimed to improve health services by providing an immediate telephone access to ‘Certified Physicians and Doctors’ via Zantel help line numbers, the move which will also help patients save time and money, and of course reducing the hassle of getting medical treatment during odd hours.

Zantel Chief Human Resources Officer, Francis Kiaga, said the Phone Doctor service showcases Zantel’s commitment to innovation in mobile technology. “Zantel has invested heavily in coming up with new technologies that aim to impact peoples lives positively’ said Kiaga.

“Wellbeing of our customers is Zantel’s number one priority, and by this service, Zantel is sure to help its customers ’ said Kiaga.

Also speaking at the occasion, BR Solutions Managing Director, Richard Njau, said the service will be a relief to many Tanzanians, because there are many non-urgent issues that people face on a day to day, and end up asking wrong people.

“This service is quick, convenient and can be conducted anywhere. The advantages are that it cuts out having to make a trip to the doctor, particularly if you are elderly or disabled. The service also offers instant reassurance and means you can take the call anywhere, at home, work, even on holiday if you have a pressing problem that can’t wait” said Mr Njau.

The service will also cover other diseases such as Sexually Transmitted Diseases, HIV/AIDS, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Diarrhea, Tuberculosis, Cancer Awareness, Heart Diseases, Malaria, Maternity Issues and First Aid Advises.

Zantel has previously won awards on M-Health from GSM, on Best Mobile Health Innovation categories for its successful and scalable mobile healthcare (mHealth) platform called Mobile Baby.
