Steers and Debonairs Pizza will introduce the mobile payment service across their thirteen restaurants countrywide beginning Monday 1st July 2013. Kopo Kopo, Safaricom’s Lipa ba M-PESA aggregator will be integrating the restaurants branches countrywide.
According to Steers and Debonairs Pizza Kenya Managing Director Azam Samanani customers will be encouraged to pay for their meal via M-PESA at no additional charge.
Samanani said, “Cashless transactions are the way of the future and we’re absorbing all the fees for our customers to help get us there now. With Kopo Kopo and M-PESA we get safer transactions, better information, more control, and a chance to serve our customers at their convenience.”
Also thrilled with the partnership Kopo Kopo CEO Dylan Higgins said, ” Steers and Debonairs commitment to go cashless will reverberate, not only in Kenya, but across the hospitality and payments industries globally.”
The firms will accept M-PESA via a formal account, engage customers via SMS and get insights via a business intelligence dashboard provided by Kopo Kopo in a move that will help them amass more clients and even make their record keeping simple.
Recently, Kopo Kopo partnered with Safaricom and Eat Out Kenya to help restaurants receive mobile payments. The service makes payments convenient as most of the buyers use mobile money. It is also safe and cool.
