South Africa’s Absa Bank today unveiled its App for BlackBerry devices in a move the bank says will help it realise its commitment to making the lives of its customers much easier.
The app will be used by clients with BlackBerry devices to enjoy the benefits which were being experienced by its over 133 000 customers using Apple, Android and BlackBerry Z10 devices.
According to the bank, the customised App for BlackBerry devices runs on BB5, BB6 and BB7 operating systems and already available in the BlackBerry App World.
Arrie Rautenbach head of Retail Bank said the App integrates seamlessly with all other Absa digital banking channels. “It adds many aspects of traditional transactional services like the ability to quickly check account balances, transfer funds between accounts, pay beneficiaries, perform a CashSend transaction and also purchase airtime for any network.”
The App is available for both individual and business customers and will permit users to link multiple BlackBerrys, smartphones or tablets to a single profile or multiple banking profiles (business and personal accounts) to a single device.
The BlackBerry app, like the other apps running on Android and Apple platforms will bring in the convenience and speed that users need to perform their banking transactions on the go without a compromise on security and convenience. The app is also linked to users online profiles for security.
Rautenbach added:“This is a security feature to ensure that no unauthorised attempts can be made to access a customer’s banking profile via the App. Devices that are lost or changed can be de-authorised, while new devices that are identified by the App will be required to be authorised by the customer.”
