Microsoft Teams Up With Qualcomm and Nokia To Give Developers Rare Programming Skills

The 4 Afrika initiative of Microsoft is currently running an immersion training session this week, which begun on Monday, for over 40 Developers from innovation hubs and universities.

Some of the involved institutions include Mlab in Kenya, HiveColab, Microsoft Innovation Centre and Outbox in Uganda /Microsift Innovation Centre in Dodoma and DTBI incubation Centre in Tanzania/ Students from Kigali Institute of Technology, Baraton University, Makerere University and Isalmic University in Uganda.

In the first set, the training involves a week’s, deep dive technical trainings on Windows Phone, Windows 8 and Windows Azure platform. These training will be delivered by experienced technical specialist.

“We will also have our partners Nokia and Qualcomm delivering sessions on various aspects of the development process to enrich the team’s experience and the type solutions that will; be produced through the program,” said the company.

The goal of this immersion program is to equip a special group of developers with the world-class technical skills needed to build highly relevant, immersive applications &cloud-based solutions.

This group of developers will be able to deliver awareness events, develop applications and can be hired/interned at start-ups and with our partners and customers.

“The immersion program also falls in line with the 4Afrika goal of empowering every African who has a great idea for a business or an application and to turn that idea into a reality which in turn can help their community, their county, or even the continent at large. The Microsoft 4Afrika initiative is built on the dual beliefs that technology can accelerate,” added the company.
