CEO Weekends:KenyaSitters.com Connecting Parents To Trusthworthy Nannies

kenyasittersKenya Sitters was founded early last year, around February by Owen Wandago to help connect parents find trusthworthy nanies and save their precious time to do important tasks.

Wandago later this year was joined with Grace Wanjohi as a partner to help sign up as many users as possible.

“What inspired me was the existence of the very persistent problem of finding a trustworthy caregiver for children especially for young career women,” he told techMoran. “And also to make sure the caregivers find a family that suits them best since every family is different and every nanny has different skills. I was inspired to take on the challenge and do what other agencies are only talking about doing. And our policy is honesty and sincerity from day one.”

How it works

The platform works simply and fast.

Wandago said users get in touch with them either via Facebook page inbox or email [[email protected]]
or give them a call. They then tell them what they’re looking for, their contacts [phone number and email], where they live, their budget and any other info that may help them match the client with the most suitable candidate.

They then find the possible match for the client who then gets a chance to meet and give their new nanny a 3 day trial as soon as possible. If the client decides to hire the new nanny, a fee is paid to the agency for the placement by the parents then the nanny is paid for the trial days. A binding contract is then signed.

With several paying clients. KenyaSitters makes money for charging placement fees and is at the moment targeting companies and organizations that sell products or services that its clients may be interested in.

The Nairobi-based startup has served clients from abroad and as far as Mombasa and would like to expand across East Africa and Africa at large.

Wandago concludes, “We also would like to be faster in our placing of our nannies, to be transparent and keep being consistent. We also like to be easily accesible and are looking to utilize mobile technology soon.”
