Uganda’s 2013 Young Achievers Awards Looking For You

yunUganda’s Young Achievers Awards, an annual event for the country’s young successful citizens has announced applications for this year’s award.

The prize goes to youth with excellent initiatives in business, science and technology, agriculture and those with outstanding talent and leadership among others.

According to the organization, applications to the prize are open until 30th October , 2013 so as to allow more time for interested candidates to apply.

The prize seeks youth in several categories.

The Young Achievers Award for Leadership and Social Enterprise category recognizes individuals, profit and not for profit organizations or  social ventures, group of young people with innovative solutions to society’s most pressing social challenges.  It  Youth leaders and activists in the social and political realm are also welcome to apply.

The second category, the  Young Achievers Award for Farming and Agro-Processing aims at the recognizing and rewards outstanding individuals who feeding the nation via their agricultural production and processing.

The third category, the Young Achievers Award for Scientific Innovation seeks people in information communication, technology and other scientific and engineering innovative activities facilitating positive change in society. Technology software solutions firms, PC retailers, mechanics, robotic inventions and creations, education software solutions, and communications networks are open to apply under this category.

Other categories include Young Achievers Award for Business Entrepreneurship, the  Young   Achievers Awards Outstanding Performing Arts category, the Young Achievers Awards Outstanding Sports Personality category and the  Young Achiever –Media and Journalism.

According to the firm,”We are looking for 7 outstanding youth below the age of 35 years from Uganda with incredibly inspiring stories, who are committed to developing innovative and creative solutions to ending poverty and who have been running a social impact project for more than one year on a full-time/part-time basis. Nominees can be working in any sector (non-profit, for-profit, government), on any issue, and can be either entrepreneurs or intrapreneurs.”

Nominations are open to the public.
