Liquid Telecom, Airtel in a Rush to Capture Data Markets in Africa

In a few weeks Liquid Telecom will be launching its new connectivity to Tanzania in an expansion plan to spread internet across Africa. In the same breath, Bharti Airtel has announced that its Africa Connect network will expand internet penetration in Africa.

After major acquisition in Africa, Liquid Telecom has achieved a pan African looked it hoped. The company has acquired some of Africa’s leading ISPs including, Rwandatel and Kenya Data Networks. This was followed by a partnership with Tanzania Telecommunication Company Limited in anticipation to launch the Kenya-Tanzania connection.

Bharti Airtel on the other hand, has announced its Africa Connect network will have an integrated fiber and satellite network with 42 Points of Presence (PoP) spread across 17 African countries, will offer integrated telecom applications and solutions. This is according to TelecomLead.

“Our telecom offerings together with our end to end service modules will help expand our access to growth markets in the region and consolidate our efforts of making India as a hub for global internet traffic,” said Ajay Chitkara, CEO – Global Business, Bharti Airtel.
