Mobile is becoming a competitive advantage in Kenya especially in the country’s financial services sector. Today NIC Bank has introduced a new mobile application just one two day after CB Group launched M-Benki.
The mobile application dubbed NIC NOW, allows users to access both banking services and lifestyle information on mobile devices.
John Gachora –NIC Bank, Group MD said, “The phenomenal growth in mobile phone use has created a whole new customer channel. Mobile transactions have grown rapidly in the last five years making it necessary for banks to develop innovative solutions that tap into the advantages brought about by mobile technology.”
Available on for Android, IOS, and Blackberry devices and all Windows Smart phones, the app’s features are only accessible to clients who have subscribed. NIC says clients can use the app to access account balances, make M-pesa payments and bill payment s. It also has informative and fun features like news, cinema guides, verses from the bible & quran.
The bank is also set to phase out its (*488#) USSD Mobile Banking platform in favour of Elma-powered banking apps developed by Kenya’s Craft Silicon.
