The Disney Media Distribution EMEA has said it will produce an African version of popular Disney series Desperate Housewives series in Nigeria.
According to Giovanni Mastrangelo general manager, Disney Media Distribution, Emerging Markets, the purpose for bringing Desperate Housewives to Africa is to engage the African audience with locally relevant and entertaining storytelling content.
Set to be filmed in Lagos, in partnership with EbonyLife TV ,the series will have actors from across Africa but will follow the format and storylines of the original US version, but the local actors will give it a Nigerian flavour.
This is not the first time Dinsey is creating a local version of the series.
The Desperate Housewives series has already been produced in a Turkish version,’Umutsuz Ev Kadinlari’, the Argentinean version, ‘Amas de Casa Desesperadas’, the Colombian/Ecuadorian version, the U.S. Hispanic version.
