The firm is taking on Spotify with its expansion into 20 new territories around the world, giving it a global footprint of 51 countries across six continents, making it the second largest music subscription service in the world in terms of countries serviced.
Now available in Argentina, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Israel, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, South Africa, Uruguay, and Venezuela, Rdio is not done yet, but is steadily adding locations to its to do list, here in Africa and other international territories.
Headquartered in San Francisco, Rdio was launched in August 2010 by Janus Friis, the co-creator of Skype. The service helps people discover, listen to, and share music with friends. The service has over 20 million songs.
