MTN Nigeria Accused Of Selling Recharge Cards A Price Above Their Value

MTN Nigeria has no choice but defend itself over claims that the company was selling their recharge cards at a price above their actual value in some parts of Nigeria. The company has said that the values of the recharge cards are still the same.

The Corporate Service Executive, Wale Goodluck had this to say: “We have not effected a price increase and the retail prices of the various denominations of our recharge cards and recharge vouchers remain the same.”

Currently the recharge voucher are sold in values of N1,500, N750, N400, N200 and N100.

 “Any such hike is contrary to MTN’s wishes or knowledge. MTN has a well-established distribution structure and all our authorized partners within this structure are obliged to sell recharge cards at their face value. Any variance from the authorized face value of recharge cards is without MTN’s knowledge or authority,” added Goodluck.

The telecommunication company said that the subscribers have the option of buying airtime vouchers through recharge cards or recharge vouchers or through a virtual top up.

MTN further explained that the airtime recharge options were distributed through an extensive trade and distribution network, which has over the years, successfully enhanced accessibility to airtime and customer convenience.
