In recognition of the performance of the students of Ayedere/Ajibola Junior Secondary School at last year’s Power Kids Energy competition, Lagos State Government has donated e-classroom and tablet computers to the school.
The school won the competition that featured exhibition of several innovations from more than 30 public schools in the region.
Speaking while handing over the donation, Lagos State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Taofiq Folami, said the state government had concluded plans to deploy the initiative to all the schools across the state.
He said: “The installed system comprise of 55 units of 185 watts, 10KVA inverter, four units charger and 16 units of batteries.”
The initiative, according to him, was to ensure that schools in the state depend less on electricity for their academic activities.
He hinted the project was also part of efforts to boost information technology skills in public schools in the state and is being carried out in collaboration with Tanus Book Limited.
He added that the state government will purchase thousands of tablets and would be distributed in phases to students across the state.
