Safaricom and DTB join NMG’s SME’s Top 100 survey.

Nation media Group’s annual survey that ranks the fastest growing mid-sized companies “Top 100 survey” sponsored by sage Pastel, Nairobi Securities Exchange, UAP Insurance has doubled its contribution this year thanks to the newly  joined Safaricom and DTB Group.

The two NSE-listed firms raised sh18 million in their debut sponsorship adding up the amount to sh 30 million which records as highest contribution in the last seven years. DTB recorded as highest contributor (sh10 million), Safaricom (sh8 million), Sage pastel (sh 6 million) and Nairobi Securities Exchange and UAP insurance with sh3 million each.

Established in 2008, the survey identifies and rewards the fastest growing small and medium firms in Kenya and plans to double the number of entries to 500 this year targeting firms in Nairobi, Kisumu, Nakuru and for the first time Mombasa.

Participants must however have been in the business for a period of three years with an annual turnover of between 70 million to sh1 billion with financial institutions are not eligible. Companies get to benefit leadership skills and training courtesy of Strathmore School.

The gala ceremony is set for October 10. NMG’s Chief Executive Linus Gitahi said “This is so far the best award and learning initiative for medium sized enterprises in East Africa.”
