Jumia Egypt Launches “Shop in shop” B2C Concept to Boost Listings & Retailer Revenues

JumiaOnline shopping site Jumia has launched a business to consumer concept dubbed “Shop-in-shop” in Egypt to help retailers and brands in Egypt sale on its site with JUMIA’s own nationwide shipping fleet, storage facilities, customer service platforms and flexible payment methods at their disposal.

“The opportunity is huge”, said Mattia Perroni, CEO of Jumia Egypt. “Through a simple comparison of what it costs a brand to open a store in a physical location versus what it costs them to open an online shop on JUMIA, it’s an easy decision. Brands can create and manage their e-shop on JUMIA from their own office, and we will give them access to more than 1 million Egyptians every month. It’s a 24-hour selling operation, with the ability to reach customers across several governorates. ”

n318490A number of brands have already had big successes by being on Jumia Egypt. Ravin Jeanswear, for example, is a fast growing retail clothing brand first launched in Egypt in 2004 and has 26 branches. Today, it is achieving record sales through its online presence on JUMIA, more than many of its physical locations.

In 2013, JUMIA was recognized as the winner of the World New Retail Launch award. Previous winners of this award include Amazon.com, H&M and Burberry London.

Perroni added, “What we’re achieving here is not just success on the e-commerce level, but also changing the way consumers browse and shop. JUMIA is an online shopping mall catering to everyone’s needs, just as well as any offline retail location would. With more convenience, multiple customer service channels and greater diversity in one single online location.”
