Carey Eaton’s burial is set for Friday June 13th in Nairobi with thousands expected to attend to pay their last respects to Africa’s internet businessman, mentor and friend.
The funeral is set for Friday at Nairobi Baptist Church on Ngong rd and the service will begin at 10am.
According to a report by our friends at AimGroup friends, family and the OAM are setting up a Carey Eaton Memorial Trust to help build internet startups in Africa with scholarships and funding to invest in similar ventures“to keep his vision alive”.
Eaton 41 passed away Thursday June 5 and left behind a wife and four children and over 600 employees in his company One Africa Media, spread across Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa and Uganda and several other countries on the continent.
Carey was a close friend to the TechMoran team and to just almost everyone in Africa tech scene. He founded Cheki in 2011 in Nairobi then began expanding it across Africa. He was also behind East Africa biggest job ad site BrighterMonday as well as Jobberman in Nigeria.He recently invested in BuyRentKenya and launched StayNow in Kenya.
