Safaricom’s M-PESA, Airtel Money and all the banks have agents counting to over 100,000 in total countrywide.

Now, PesaPoint a Paynet Group member says it will launch a super agent network in the country with over 1200 agents countrywide and working just like its PesaPoint ATMs. PesaPoin ATMs work with partner banks, insurance firms, deposit taking micro finance institutions and mobile money to allow consumers access teir cash easily.

“The agent network will be able provide cash in and cash out services to subscribers of any mobile money service, enable cash withdrawal for debit cards issued by banks in Kenya and at the same time vend airtime, micro insurance, power tokens among other services.” said PesaPoint Agent Network CEO Frederik Eijkman in a statement.

He also added that the firm has deployed an intelligent engine to manage the agent network infrastucture  and support hundreds of products and operations at POS, mPOS and Mobile terminals at various retail outlets in the country. The firm will als offer its agent network as a branding and advertising platform where banks, insurance firms among others can promote their services.

“We are in the process of re-branding all our agent outlets located at Nakumatt, Tuskys, My Shop and all other locations to ensure that our agent outlets communicate the same values,” Mr. Eijkman concluded.

It’s competition will be Safaricom’s M-PESA agent network, Equity Bank’s agent network and its yet to be launch mobile money services among others.
