Joe Devassy, the Director of Microsoft Devices Group, made the observations last week while visiting Cc HUB, a Nigerian pre-incubation space in Yaba, Lagos.

Devassy told the technology start-ups at the center that the Nigerian government’s ability to acquire 4G at a low-cost was essential for the expansion of local apps. He advised the young developers at Cc HUB to be innovative and to integrate strategies that enable them to engage consumers with their apps.

Despite growth of mobile apps space facing extreme challenges, Nigeria is still considered a significant market. According to Devassy, the greatest challenge in the Nigerian apps market is ‘discovery.’

Nigeria is considered a strategic market for technology apps because of its large population. Devassy clarified that Microsoft Devices Group is in Nigeria because it is a key market. The company is making the right investments in the West African nation by promoting local quality apps in stores and resource centers. They are actively providing quality products to consumers.
