Airtel Gives $15,000 to Support Ebola Fight in Sierra Leone

ebola-sierraAirtel Sierra Leone has provided Le64, 967, 860. 00 ($15,000) to the Sierra Leon government and has dedicated Le1 (Ksh 0.02) from every call made on the network as part of the company’s continued support to fight against the Ebola virus.

The firm has also been joined by Airtel Kenya to raise funds that will go towards fighting the deadly Ebola virus. The two firms will help improve lives in the community, to make continuations in their fight against the virus that has infected and killed many people across the country.

The initiative spearheaded by staff through personal contributions will boost the Airtel Sierra Leone’s efforts in support of the Government’s in managing and containing the spread of the deadly Ebola virus.

Recently, the Bill and Mellinda Gates Foundation put $50 million on the fight against Ebola. The US govt committed more than $100 million to combat Ebola and last week USAID announced it would spend $75 million to build treatment facilities and supply them with medical equipment. The US government also promised to pump more $500 million into the fight. Nigeria’s Prophet T.B Joshua also donated $50,000 towards the fight of the epidemic as well as $7 million from the Australia government.
