After signing up its’ 1000th hotel in Kenya, online hotel booking platform Jovago has launched in Zimbabwe with plans to expand into the entire SADC (South Africa Development Community) region.
The expansion move comes after the firm signed deals with leading hotel groups such as Regency Hotels and the historic Meikles in Harare targeting the growing ttourism sector in the region.
“Zimbabwe is listed among the fasted growing travel destinations in Africa, we want to be part of this incredible growth.” Said Estelle Verdier-Watine, the Managing Director Jovago. “With the economic improvement in Zimbabwe and the global attention accorded to the country’s natural tourist destinations, the future of Zimbabwe’s tourism industry can only get better.”
With a growing inventory of about 8,000 hotels in Africa, Jovago is keen to enhance the African Tourism Industry. Before this Southward trail to SADC, the company also forged new partnerships in Burundi to complete its presence in all the African Community Member states: “We recognize and appreciate the government of Burundi for their support in this industry. We can assure that with more than 50% of travel being planned and organized online, the online presence of Burundi’s hotel industry is a limitless opportunity to the country’s hospitality industry” concluded the company’s MD.
The firm is available in Uganda, Tanzania/Zanzibar, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Djibouti, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Burundi, Zambia, South Sudan, Nigeria, and Ghana and has over 200,000 hotels globally.
